Rohin Vadera founded the veto option website. He has been a long-term member of NOTA UK, a non-partisan advocacy group focused on introducing a “None of the Above” option on ballots. Most of the concepts on this site stems from the 2019 white paper by Jamie Stanley and Rohin Vadera. The VETO option is a rebranding of the NOTA option, as it more accurately reflects the essence of the reform.

Hey there! Welcome to the VETO option. This is a campaign that aims to maximise the common good. It’s a simple idea that has the potential to change everything. We believe we have the best idea in the world to improve politics. We are not here to provide commentary on politics but to offer a solution that can enhance it and better serve our shared interests.

We find ourselves in an electoral oligarchy, not a democracy, and this reality influences every aspect of politics. Voters serve as fuel for a political system that can actively work against their interests.

The solution is to change the “lead, follow, or get out of the way” electoral system to one that makes the voter sovereign. In this system, both the will of the majority and individual sovereignty must be respected. Fulfilling these two conditions naturally leads to the maximisation of the common good.

We all share a desire to enhance our lives, and real democracy harnesses that natural desire to turn it into a reality. It’s not that the majority are always right; it’s just that we have the greatest incentive to let go of what doesn’t work and welcome policies and people that improve our well-being.

Let’s come together to build a grassroots movement that enhances the common good.
